MEP Engineering & Design

MEP Engineering

Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering for new buildings, renovations, and industrial facilities—from early loads to coordinated construction documents.

Coordinated MEP design

Start with the project you’re bringing us.

01 / Project team

Architects & design teams

Bring us the architectural plans, model standards, and issue schedule. We’ll define a coordinated MEP package from concept through construction.

Plan design coordination

02 / Project team

Owners & developers

Start with the building use, project stage, and operational constraints. We’ll identify the systems and information needed for a new build, fit-out, or modernization.

Scope your MEP project

03 / Project team

Design-build contractors

Send the equipment concept, available drawings, and construction milestones. We’ll scope the calculations, design documents, and engineering support you need.

Overview

MEP engineering brings a building’s heating, cooling, ventilation, power, and plumbing into one coordinated design. TPS helps architects, owners, and design-build contractors connect those systems to the way a facility will actually operate. We develop the loads, equipment selections, layouts, and specifications together, with Revit coordination and power-system analysis available within the same engineering scope.

What's included

Scope of work

HVAC loads, ventilation, ductwork, air distribution, and control sequences

Electrical service, distribution, lighting, and branch circuit design

Domestic water, sanitary, gas, and process piping design

Revit models coordinated with architectural and structural information

Power-system studies matched to the equipment and operating modes

Permit documents and construction-phase support defined in the proposal

Methodology

How the engagement runs

We agree on inputs, responsibilities, and deliverables before the work begins, then keep the design decisions connected through each stage.

MEP Engineering: how the engagement runs

  1. 1Define the building and the assignment
Start with the project location, use, design stage, schedule, and available plans. Agree on disciplines, existing-condition information, and who owns each design interface.
  2. 2Establish the design basis
Develop loads, utility requirements, equipment concepts, and space needs. Confirm the applicable code basis and local review requirements for the project.
  3. 3Coordinate the design
Develop mechanical, electrical, and plumbing layouts alongside the architectural and structural models. Resolve equipment, routing, and access conflicts before documents are issued.
  4. 4Document and support construction
Issue the agreed drawings, schedules, calculations, and specifications. Carry the design intent into submittal reviews, RFIs, field observations, and commissioning support included in the scope.

Project location

Local requirements belong in the design brief.

Our state MEP guides cover local design considerations. For a proposal, send the project location and required disciplines so we can confirm licensing, sealing, and review requirements for your assignment.

When you need it

Triggers

  • →An architect needs a coordinated MEP consultant
  • →A ground-up building or tenant fit-out needs engineering
  • →A facility modernization changes loads or system capacity
  • →A design-build contractor needs calculations and construction documents

What you receive

Deliverables

  • Design criteria and load calculations
  • Equipment schedules and coordinated layouts
  • Revit model and coordination findings where scoped

FAQ

Common questions

What does MEP engineering include?+

MEP covers mechanical systems such as HVAC and ventilation, electrical power and lighting, and plumbing systems such as water, sanitary, and gas piping. TPS can coordinate those disciplines as one package or define a focused assignment around the systems your project needs.

Can TPS support a single discipline or a full MEP package?+

Yes. We can scope mechanical, electrical, or plumbing work individually, or coordinate a combined package with BIM and construction support. Send the project location, building use, current plans, and schedule so we can define the right team and deliverables.

Are power system studies part of MEP design?+

They can be included when the electrical scope calls for them. Short-circuit, coordination, arc-flash, harmonic, and load-flow studies analyze system performance; they serve a different purpose from the construction drawings. We identify the studies and inputs in the proposal.

Can TPS provide MEP engineering in my state?+

Send the project state and required disciplines when you contact us. We confirm the project’s licensing, sealing, and review requirements before agreeing to the scope. Our MEP state guides cover Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Virginia.

What should I send to request an MEP proposal?+

Send the address or state, building use and approximate size, current drawings, the systems involved, and your target permit or construction dates. For a renovation, include available equipment information and any restrictions on shutdowns or site access.

Let’s define the right scope for your project.

Share your project location, current plans, and target schedule. We’ll follow up to confirm the scope and information needed for a proposal.
