Construction Support

MEP Construction Administration

MEP submittal review, RFI response, field observation, and commissioning support that keep design decisions connected to construction.

Overview

The permit set isn’t the end of the engineering work. TPS provides construction-phase support for the systems it designs, helping the owner, architect, and contractors work through equipment submittals, questions, utility interfaces, and observed field conditions. We define the review responsibilities, site visits, and commissioning support with the project team so everyone knows what is included.

What's included

Scope of work

Shop drawing and equipment submittal review

Responses to requests for information

Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design coordination

Utility coordination within the engineering scope

Field observation of the designed systems

Commissioning support for the agreed systems

Methodology

How the engagement runs

We agree on inputs, responsibilities, and deliverables before the work begins, then keep the design decisions connected through each stage.

MEP Construction Administration: how the engagement runs

  1. 1Plan the construction engagement
Agree on review procedures, expected submittals, site visit milestones, utility interfaces, and commissioning responsibilities before work begins.
  2. 2Review proposed equipment and questions
Review submittals against the design intent and respond to RFIs. Coordinate the effect of proposed equipment changes across disciplines.
  3. 3Observe and communicate
Observe the work at the agreed milestones and communicate engineering findings to the project team for resolution.
  4. 4Support the transition to operation
Provide the agreed commissioning support and address engineering questions as systems are prepared for operation.

FAQ

Common questions

Does TPS stay involved after the permit drawings?+

Yes. TPS offers submittal review, RFI response, utility coordination, field observation, and commissioning support. The proposal sets out the activities and level of involvement for the project.

Is construction administration the same as continuous inspection?+

No. Engineering reviews and scheduled field observations have a defined scope. Continuous inspection, contractor supervision, and construction means and methods are not implied by a construction-administration assignment.

How is commissioning support scoped?+

We agree on the systems, responsibilities, milestones, and documentation before the work starts. Describe the commissioning team and expected engineering involvement when requesting a proposal.
